To Lochinver The narrow road from Coigach drops down to a bridge over the River Kirkaig and enters the district of Assynt. By the bridge is a small car park, a bookshop and cafe, and the start of the path to the impressive Falls of Kirkaig.
From the bridge to road runs downstream for 800m to the foreshore at Inverkirkaig. Here it turns north and there are several houses clustered along the road as it crosses the headlands to the hillside above Lochinver. The road drops down the steep hillside, passing the school set on a promentary in Loch Culag, to emerge by the shore near the pier.
