We have long been impressed by the quality
of music teaching that the school offers and we have attended some excellant
concerts given by the students. Susan has been a long-standing member of the
Ceilidh Band (the Rex Eddies - think about it) and Andrew has joined the
orchestra in the second violins. This year the school produced a double CD
including a range of musical pieces from the choir, orchestra, jazz band,
soloists and ceilidh band. The tracks were recorded at the end of the last
school year including groups and soloists from the previous two years. Susan's
social diary meant she missed the recording session for the Ceilidh Band (she
was in Scotland at the time) which was a bit unfortunate. Anyway, the tracks
make excellant listening, and yes - we were there when many of the pieces were
recorded.
In 1998 (GCSE year) Susan was
awarded two trophies by the school. The first was for Outstanding Project Work
in Technology - she built an electronic musical tuning box. The second was a
cup in recognition of her work and efforts helping the Youth Assoiciation in
it's activities with Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh students.

And this is what he looks like in school uniform - smart isn't he!
